Ribhararnus Pracutian
Founder and lead developer, NovelOS Studio
I build NovelOS Studio, a local-first writing studio for novelists on macOS and Windows. It is sold once, for $45, with no subscription and no account — your manuscripts stay in files on your own disk. I write the code, answer the support email, and publish the 215 articles in this site's blog.
Why I write about writing software
Most articles comparing writing tools are written by people who have never had to implement the features they are comparing. I have had to decide how a scene reorders inside a timeline, what happens to a character's family tree when you delete a parent, and what an EPUB export does to a nested chapter. When I write that one tool handles something better than NovelOS does, it is because I have built the equivalent and know where mine gives way.
The craft articles come from the same place. A feature like the Blueprint or the Oracle only makes sense if you understand the writing problem it is meant to remove, so working out that problem properly is part of building the product.
