Common questions
What does The Oracle actually store for each character?
Four tabs per character. The Dossier holds name, role, age, era and pronouns. The Soul holds archetype, moral alignment, motivation (the Want), deep fear (the Ghost), voice, and strengths versus flaws. The Web holds the family tree and links to locations, items and scenes. Visuals holds the portrait and the art direction used to generate it.
Does it invent my characters for me?
Only if you ask. The Oracle generator takes a prompt like "an 18-year-old magician raised by wolves" and returns a few concepts you can accept, edit or ignore. Nothing is written to a character without you choosing it, and you can build every character by hand and never touch the generator.
Will portraits still match in book three?
Portraits are generated against a saved art direction on the character, plus facial structure, build, clothing and quirks. Regenerating a year later reuses those same fields, so the face stays recognisable instead of drifting.
Can I track family trees and relationships?
Yes. The Web tab has a genealogy editor where you drag cast members into parent, partner, sibling and child slots, and a connections list linking the character to locations, items and lore. Scenes tagged in the Blueprint show up automatically.
Do I need an AI key to use it?
No. Dossiers, psychology, relationships and family trees are all manual and work offline. Only concept generation and portrait generation call a provider, using your own API key, and the studio is complete without them.
Where is my character data stored?
In your project on your own disk, alongside the manuscript. There is no account and no cloud sync. Pull the network cable and the cast is still there.
