Common questions

Which formats can I export?

Eight text formats: DOCX, RTF, TXT, Markdown, EPUB, standalone HTML, digital PDF and print-ready PDF with high resolution, CMYK and bleed marks. The book can also be exported as audio, in MP3 or WAV.

Can I export an audiobook?

Yes. The publishing page renders the whole book to audio and writes one numbered track per chapter, as MP3 for players and audiobook apps or WAV as a lossless master for further editing. Chapter titles and subtitles are narrated along with the prose. The audio is generated on your own machine rather than sent to a service, so there is no per-word charge and no upload, and narration is English only at present. It is a synthetic voice: useful for hearing the book as listeners will, for a reference recording, or for a self-produced audio edition, but it does not replace a studio recording with a human narrator.

Which format do agents and editors want?

DOCX is the industry standard for submission. RTF is the safe fallback for older software, and TXT strips formatting entirely when a submission system demands plain text.

Can I set trim size and margins?

Yes. Trim size, margins (standard, narrow, wide or mirrored) and the export font are set in the project's layout settings before you export for print.

Do I need separate software to make an ebook?

No. EPUB is exported from the same manuscript, so the ebook and the print file come from one source rather than two diverging documents.

Is there a record of what I sent and when?

The export manifest logs every export with its version ID, format, destination, time and your own version note, such as "Draft 3 sent to beta readers".

Can I move the whole project to another computer?

Yes. A .novelos archive packages project data, manuscript, media, boards, timeline, cast, worlds, lore, genealogy and comments with a manifest and checksums, and is validated on import.

Is it included in the $45?

Yes. Every export format is included, with no per-export fee and no subscription.
