What does The Alchemist change?
A passage you select. Ask for a tighter line and you get the original text, one or more rewrites with different emphases such as sensory or action focus, and a short reason for each change. You apply the one you want, or none.
Will it rewrite my whole book?
No. It works on the passage you send, one at a time. There is no button that rewrites a chapter or generates a novel, and there will not be one.
Does my writing leave my machine?
Only the passage you send, only at the moment you trigger the action, and only to the provider whose key you configured. It never passes through our servers. Leave the AI features off and NovelOS works fully offline.
What does the AI cost?
Nothing to us. You supply your own provider API key and the provider bills you directly at their rates. We take no cut and add no markup, because the money never passes through us.
Do I need it to use NovelOS?
No. Planning, drafting, world building, tracking, export and archiving all work without any AI configured. The Alchemist is optional.
Will it flatten my voice?
It proposes, you dispose. Because the original stays on screen next to the rewrite and the reason, you can reject a suggestion that sounds like someone else, which is harder to do when a tool edits in place.
Is it included in the $45?
Yes. The feature is included. Provider usage is billed separately by the provider you choose.
