## A focused worksheet for one part of your novel

This free tool handles a specific planning or production task. NovelOS Studio brings characters, worldbuilding, scenes, timelines, goals, manuscript drafting, revision, and publishing exports into one private desktop project.

## A useful target protects the book from the calendar

A useful word-count target describes work you can repeat. A simple calendar average ignores weekends, illness, research, and revision. This calculator uses the days you plan to write, so the daily pace reflects your actual schedule.

The revision buffer moves the drafting finish line earlier than the final deadline. That distinction matters for submissions, preorders, editing bookings, and personal challenges. Recalculate after a strong or difficult week and treat the schedule as a living plan.

NovelOS Studio extends this schedule into project goals and progress tracking beside the manuscript. The calculator gives you a portable plan; NovelOS keeps the plan connected to scenes, chapters, and the words being written.

## How to use this tool

1. Enter your current manuscript word count and finished target.
2. Choose a deadline, writing days per week, and revision buffer.
3. Review the daily target, weekly pace, milestone dates, and projected finish.
4. Copy or download the schedule and adjust it whenever your pace changes.

## What the workspace includes

* Separates drafting time from revision time
* Accounts for planned days away from the manuscript
* Turns the total into dated, manageable milestones
* Keeps all entered data in this browser

## Questions writers ask

How many words should I write per day for a novel?

The right daily target is the remaining manuscript word count divided by your actual writing days before the drafting deadline. A sustainable target you can repeat is more useful than a genre-wide average.

Does the calculator include days off?

Yes. Choose between one and seven writing days per week. The milestone schedule counts only the selected writing frequency.

What is a revision buffer?

A revision buffer reserves part of the available calendar for rereading, structural changes, proofreading, formatting, or delivery problems after the draft is complete.

Is my manuscript data uploaded?

No. The calculator runs in your browser and saves its settings to local browser storage on this device.
