## In Medias Res in a story

The technique creates immediate questions while context is supplied later. The opening still needs orientation around desire, danger, or change.

## Original fiction example

> The novel begins as a diplomat signs the wrong name to a peace treaty, three years after the deception that made the signature necessary.
