## Dynamic Character in a story

The change may be growth, disillusionment, corruption, recovery, or a revised understanding. It becomes visible in later choices.

## Original fiction example

> A loyal archivist begins by protecting institutional secrets and ends by publishing evidence that destroys her position.

## Why writers use it

Use dynamic change when the story's pressure is meant to transform the character's governing belief or behavior.

**A useful revision question:** Where does this device change what the reader understands, expects, or feels? If removing it leaves the passage unchanged, it may need a clearer function.

A change in circumstances is not automatically a change in character.
